I had a Gerber MP600 knifeless that I left somewhere in my previous abode, but I love this UK 'street-legal' Rebar and it has a much more precisely engineered finish and refined action than the Gerber and because of the deliberate omission of a blade I can take it anywhere with me. The Rebar pliers have been optimized for strength and feature replaceable wire/hard-wire cutters—a first for a four-inch tool from Leatherman. The Leatherman Knifless Rebar has no knife and is suitable for tactical applications and many other universal uses for which no knife is necessary or may not be used. This could even be available only from Leatherman, but would require nothing more than a direct swap at the factory. Given that ALL the gadgets are lockable (as in, they lock in position meaning that you can use them without the risk of them collapsing in use), some of these ends could still be lethal in the wrong hands (I'm thinking that perhaps this isn't the best gift for a child for this reason - but this is only an opinion!

Agreed this is an option, but what I mean is I wish they would design a NEW tool that emphasizes the scissors instead of a blade instead of just switching in the small scissors. I just wish Leatherman offered more of their models without knife blades (but replaced them with more useful tools instead e.Doesn't make sense to change the plier head as I've not heard of any problems with them breaking when using the crimpers. Also, my primary EDC knife is a Spyderco Urban (British Blades forum special edition with Elmax steel), which is UK-legal, stays sharp, has OHO, and a deep-carry pocket clip, so I have no need for a knife on my multitool. Anyway, after finding out all of this I had to track down a multi-tool that I would be allowed to carry. One is not better than the other, but having the two mandatory systems only drives up costs without adding value. Speaking of the awl, I can't think of anything so completely useless for a general multitool like this!Regardless of where the multi-tool is made, the multi-tool needs to meet the local government requirements or the multi-tool can not be legally sold in that country. long and the scissors that replace it are about 2" long when closed with less than 1" of cutting length.

With the extra space they could've put the diamond file in or something At the end of the day, it's a Rebar. The only other full size knife less multi tool on the market (that I know of) is a Blade less mp600. The Knifeless Rebar is perfect for environments and job sites that need a handy set of tools, yet don’t allow for knife blades. but if there is a risk the Knifeless Rebar is still not considered UK-legal carry, I'd have to look elsewhere e.It’s made completely of brushed stainless steel so It’s very strong but also looks really nice with the brushed effect. The Rebar also offers a choice of straight or serrated blades that are complimented with a selection of tools that will enable most jobs to be carried out. We had to set up a whole show in Germany once and our giant toolbox was padlocked and the luggage with the key in it got lost!
