About this deal

I had the pleasure to chat with Ross this week, and believe me I was blown away. The nineteen year old from Southern England is the most calm, relaxed, spiritually centred, western-world teenager I have ever spoken with. Well, grilled. She had no idea about Spiritualist Churches and Development Circles. However on a fateful summer evening three weeks after she had been medically retired in 2003, her whole world was turned around. The spirit world had big plans for her. For no reason whatsoever she decided to attend an evening of clairvoyance at a local hall in Rayleigh. For a recent psychic weekend event in Coventry, UK, Ross was described as “one of the top four mediums in the country.” At the event, he appeared alongside Colin Fry, Derek Acorah, and Ralph Keeton. I asked Ross if he ever felt condescending to what I described as “old school” mediums. He replied, “No. They respect me because I’ve gone out and done my thing.” Although he added that “mediums generally do not get along with other mediums, (as there is) there is a lot of competition, ego and jealousy”, he adds that there is a lot “massaging the ego, with autographs, people who want to take a picture of you, people. who come up to you and want to talk to you. “

In conclusion, to me, to refer to Ross Bartlett as anything but a young man would be disrespectful, although the label “Teen Psychic” has really catapulted him into the fray. He is polite, friendly, aware of his own responsibility for the work he does, very curious, knowledgeable, forward-thinking and, in my opinion, exudes humility. Over the next year, Ross will continue with his public demonstrations, in halls, theatres, pubs and clubs. The Teen Psychic will also be taking his work to Norway and Sweden, where he reports Clairvoyance is becoming very popular. He has travelled to the USA for private one to one readings. In addition, Ross has just completed the first stage of his autobiography, publication for which will be January 2013. There’s always the possibility of the answer being “because I want to help” and that may be a genuine belief in some who get into the world of woo but just as possible are the many less fluffy reasons that hold some significance in swapping the playstation for the planchette. This young scientific mind, though extrasensory, offers more theories and little gems of wonder to ponder “.” God “is energy, he is almighty, he is everything and he knows everything … (God) is not governed or restricted by time. Energy cannot be created or destroyed because it is everything.” The picture I envisage from Ross’ theory is this; Imagine there are infinite number of straight vertical, never-ending lines. All the lines are dotted with markers – a bit like the London Underground Station “circles”. If you are currently on a particular path, but then choose a different path, you hop over to a maker on another line. However, it seems there is a catch to this theory, as we are not in fact flitting through life on some random joy ride, as our consciousness has already pre-destined the outcomes.

Summary

Ross made it clear that his last point was related to intention; If you develop to help people, then you should continue with that ethic. This young scientific, yet extrasensory, mind offers more theories and little gems of wonderment to ponder.””God” is energy, is all-powerful, is everything and knows everything…(God) is not governed, or restricted, by time. Energy cannot be created or destroyed because it is everything.” At 8 he attends his first meeting at a spiritualist church with his mother. He says he remembers keeping his experiences a secret from his friends and family fearing as any kid does at that age difference and exclusion. What more reassuring than to have your mother and those around you tell you its all real and not only that but they experience it too. Suddenly your included, part of something .The seeds are well and truly sewn.

By 14 he’s taking workshops and has joined a circle. His young mind is now subject to every little bit of influence and manipulation these things often bring. It’s now the mediums and the idea of being a medium is fully beginning to form in his mind and the minds of those around him. It all starts at five, when Master Bartlett see’s a Victorian lady standing over his mother’s bed. He tells his grandmother who tells him its nothing out of the ordinary and there was nothing to worry about. Good advice you might think but she didn’t mean it was just a ordinary cause or any number of other possible reasons and then explained them to him …she meant It was normal because she was a psychic and claimed to have those experiences herself. And so it begins. Returning to his job, Ross has appeared on BBC 3, demonstrating his mediumship skills in I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here star Joe Swash. The Teen Psychic said he definitely enjoyed the adding experience; “It was something different, something new.” He states that he is very open to the media, and indeed welcomes them, to reach out to those “who generally would not step into a spiritualist Church.” However, he is selective in what he does and says, “It has to feel good.” The act of looking for something will create something for us to find” is Ross’ brief theory on the Law of Attraction, whereby your thoughts create your reality. However, he warns, what is proven now may not indeed be truth in years to come. He explains that Einstein’s Theory of Relativity was way beyond its time, at that time. However now that same theory, which has been spoon-fed into the mouths of (willing, I might add) science students for years has been proven to be wrong. He asks the question (which I joyfully label as a prediction) “What’s to say there will not be a radio connecting every home to the Spirit World in years to come?”

The act of looking for something will create something for us to find” is Ross’s short theory of the Law of Attraction, by which your thoughts create your reality. However, he cautions, what is proven now may not be true for years to come. He explains that Einstein’s theory of relativity was far beyond his time, at the time. However, that same theory, which has been spooned into the mouths of (willing, I must add) science students for years, has now been shown to be incorrect. He asks the question (which I happily label as a prediction) “What does it mean that there won’t be a radio connecting every home to the Spirit World for years to come?” You know when think on what most 17 year olds get up to and spend their time on traipsing around spiritualist churches performing to an audience of people by and large three times their age isn’t the first thing you think about. As I pondered this I found this article on Ross Bartlett Teen Psychic written by none other than his manager Norie Miles for Ghost Voices magazine and already that begins to hint at why this kid isn’t spending his time down the local in hangout and instead is in a ill fitting suit rolling his eyes and spinning out clichés that would make even Degsey cringe. 17 year old kids don’t have managers they have careers teachers and parents that like to nag them to “get a proper job/career/degree/haircut” The image that I imagine from Ross’s theory is the following; Imagine that there are an infinite number of endless vertical straight lines. All the lines are dotted with markers, a bit like the “circles” in London Underground station. If you are currently on a particular route, but then choose a different route, you jump to a manufacturer on another line. However, it seems that this theory has a catch, as we are not in fact flitting through life on a random joyous journey, as our conscience has already predestined the results. Ross explained his school was “very rough” but his life was not made difficult. Many of the kids found out about Ross’ psychic abilities through their parents, who had seen the Teen Psychic demonstrating his skill at the Spiritualist Church. The ones who knew he was clairvoyant were accepting and understanding, which I believe to be a rarity, given the non-spiritual setting. I also believe the support he received from his Mum, (who introduced Ross to the Spiritualist Church) his close friends and of course the church undoubtedly helped him greatly during, what can be, highly difficult and confusing years.

Ross explained that his school was “very hard” but that his life was not difficult. Many of the children learned of Ross’s psychic abilities from their parents, who had seen the Adolescent Psychic demonstrate his ability in the Spiritualist Church. Those who knew he was clairvoyant accepted and understood him, which I think is a rarity given the non-spiritual environment. I also think that the support he received from his mother, (who introduced Ross to the Spiritualist Church), his close friends, and of course the church certainly helped him a lot during, what can be, very difficult and confusing years. Grannies already reaffirming the paranormal as a path and sharing her experiences which is incredibly appealing and inclusive to a child so small when their whole world is what the people the trust and love tell them.

He has been over indulged for too long and it is really all he knows. He has been so conditioned to believe in his "abilities" that it becomes even harder to break that conditioning. He has been brain washed whilst he has been indulged and encouraged by his family and church. The readings I have seen certainly do not indicate that he is in any way the real McCoy. In fact he is not even good. The question I have is that if he does indeed genuinly believe in his "abilities" as a 17 year-old at what stage does he have to start taking responsibility for what he is doing? Interesting; earth, angel, spirit … I reflect on the symbolic reference, on a conscious level, and I seem to understand it, I am not sure, what is it but it is like a knowing without knowing and there are no words that can describe the resonance? Strange!
